Tapiz  Chardonnay

Imagine this:  Standing in the middle of a vineyard in 98 degree weather and looking up to see spectacular picturesque scenery, of lush green vines with grape clusters two weeks away from harvest, and the Andes Mountain tops in the background capped with white snow. Beautiful isn't it?

In February of 09' I had the privilege to travel to the Southern Hemisphere with the Central Market wine and beer management team and experience Argentina's wine country first hand.

Yes, I know that Argentina is best known for red wine made from the Malbec grape varietal, but I ended up being blown away by a more conventional and traditional grape varietal....Chardonnay! In particular with the Tapiz Chardonnay, which I found to be so luscious. With a perfect balance of acidity and tropical fruit tones and a touch of minerality, it was very refreshing.

There's no reason why there shouldn't be a bottle chilling in your Texas refrigerator year round. It's no wonder this wine is very food friendly with the Argentine cuisine. It paired delightfully with the beef empanadas!

Kudos, to the powerhouse winery Tapiz for producing a great Chardonnay in a wine country best known for reds.
