Kids in the Kitchen at Fort Worth

Series One – Central Market's Next TV Star
- June 7-10: 5-6 year-olds
- June 14-17: 7-9 year-olds
- June 21-24: 10-12 year-olds
- June 28-July 1: 13-17 year-olds
Day 1: Let's Plan Our Meal – Learn about food safety and science; practice age-appropriate knife skills; discover the art of meal planning. With guidance, students will select a menu and prepare it from beginning to end.
Day 2: Shop the Market – Meal plan in hand, we'll shop the market for supplies!
Day 3: Chopping, Slicing & Dicing – Now that we've planned and shopped, it's time to get ready for the big show. Learn about mis en place, proper measuring, and putting knife skills to good use.
Day 4: Showtime! – After finalizing preparations, students will present a Cooking Show on our new HDTV monitors. Each child may bring two guests to watch and enjoy the food we've prepared.
Series Two – Baking: Sweet & Savory
- July 5-8: 5-6 year-olds
- July 12-15: 7-9 year-olds
- July 19-22: 10-12 year-olds
- July 26-29: 13-17 year-olds
Day 1: The Science of Baking – Explore the science behind measuring and mixing ingredients for baking.
Day 2: What's for Breakfast? Breads! – What is more enticing and inviting than the scent of freshly-baked bread? Today our students will bake rich scones, delectable muffins and gooey cinnamon rolls.
Day 3: It's a Piece of Cake – Learn how to make fluffy, moist cakes and cupcakes, and then decorate them with simple items found in your own kitchen.
Day 4: We're on a Roll: Dinner Breads – Rolls and other breads complement any meal. The finale of our Kids Cooking Camp focuses on dinner rolls, cornbread and more.
