Sea Scallops - delicious and versatile
Whether you are searching for a Valentine's dinner recipe, or just looking for something new to try, why don't you consider the Sea Scallop?

Primarily found from Eastern Canada to North Carolina, Sea Scallops are available in several sizes, from 10-20, 20-30 or 30-40 per pound. The meat is nearly translucent, with a creamy color. Sometimes pink and brown spots accent the drum-shaped meat. The flavor of a scallop is sweet, ranging from mild to salty.
Cooking Methods: Poach, bake or sauté for 5-6 minutes, or steam for 3-5 minutes. You can also slice them for use in soups or stews, adding the meat right before serving. Scallops are also great on the grill, but be careful not to overcook, as they will become tough. Also, it is not recommended that you cook them in the microwave because they will explode.
