New York Fuji Cider Available at Central Market
For those who like things super sweet, we now have late-season Fowler Farms New York Fuji cider.
Fowler Farms is a six-generation family farm out of Wolcott NY. Since 1858, they’ve gained a reputation as one of the best names in New York apples. New York’s cold weather and excellent soil provides one of the best climates for growing apples. The soil lends an acidity and depth to the fruit that cannot be found elsewhere.
Fujis are a newer cross between the older Red Delicious and heirloom variety Rawls Janet. They were brought to market in 1962, and have experienced massive worldwide popularity ever since. In America, they are the fourth most popular apple after Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, and Gala. In China, however, they account for 80% of the total crop with 16 million tons grown annually. Fujis are one of the sweetest varieties out there, and actually improve with storage through the winter and late into summer.
