Pluots Are At Their Peak!

A natural hybrid between plums and apricots; Pluots are reaching their peak of season! Juicy, tangy, and sweet, they are the perfect treat for these hot summer days. Here are a few new varieties in your Central Market produce department:
· Plumogranate: A brand new, deep red fleshed variety that’s packed with antioxidants similar to pomegranates and red wine.
· Crimson Glo: A dark purple pluot with pink flesh, this new variety is musky and slightly tart with fantastic juice.
· Dapple Jack: A cousin of the original pluot, the Dapple Dandy (originally marketed as Dinosaur Eggs.) These ugly guys are very sweet pluots with very little acidity. This great one is for the kids!
· Sweet Treat: Our personal favorite, this small and somewhat ugly green fruit has flavor of a juicy green grape. Don't pass this one up!
· Flavor Queen Pluot: This oblong yellow fruit is brightly flavored and ultra sweet. Golden all the way through, they are beautiful in fruit salads.
