Cornish Cookies Have a Story and Flavor to Share
At Furniss – Cornish Biscuits, (that's cookies for us Yanks) are made to a traditional recipe dating back to 1886 and have been favorites in Cornwall and beyond for over a century. All of their biscuits, from Fairings to shortbread, use the finest quality local ingredients wherever possible, such as Cornish clotted cream and butter, exactly as they would have done over 100 years ago.
Traditionally these luxury biscuits would have been a treat for a loved one bought at the Cornish fairs held every year at Whitsuntide and Corpus Christi – today you can pick up the same authentic treats from Central Market. Try any of the six flavors available from the Original to the Clotted Cream Shortbread for a flavorful treat. There is also Orange Lemon or Apple Cinnamon flavors, perfect with a cup of tea. These are the simple pleasures in life. My personal favorites are the Cornish Gingerbread and Ginger Honey Cookies. Something about them takes me back to pleasant childhood memories when a cold glass of milk and a cookie like these was time well spent. This Cornish tradition is alive and well, and proudly offered at Central Market. Have a cookie, catch a memory.
