North Lamar Cheesemonger Matt is excite about Old Chatham Camembert, a creamy and delicious soft-ripened cheese made in the tradition of Normandy's famous export.

Tom and Nancy Clark started the Old Chatham Sheepherding Company on 600 acres of New York's picturesque and historic Hudson Valley.  Starting with 150 ewes, their flock has now grown to over 1000 East Friesian purebred and crossbreed ewes.  They are the largest sheep dairy farm in the United States and it's organically-managed to boot

Sheep's milk cheeses continue to gain popularity in the United States (they've long been popular in Europe, especially in northern Spain.) The ideal terroir of the Hudson Valley and the masterful craftsmanship of the Old Chatham cheesemakers have combined to produce a delicate and well balanced cheese that is the perfect addition to any cheese tray.  Already garnished with myriad awards and recognition, Old Chatham Camembert was recently named one of the Wine Spectator's 100 great cheeses.  We are excited and proud to be able to offer this cheese to you at Central Market.

Look for the label (above) with the distinctive black sheep on it. Of course, If you need any help locating this in the cheese department, please don't hesitate to ask!
