Argentine Beauties
Dark, seductive, ripe and complex and a great dinner companion… I am talking about the wines of Argentina here, do not get the wrong idea! In this, the second installment of my South American blog on our buying trip to Argentina and Chile, I would like to focus on Preludio wines, as they are known in the US. The wines are appropriate now as Earth day is near and the Biondolillo family is committed to sustainability as this excerpt from their mission statement shows “Every Project shall be sustainable using the natural resources efficiently. To honor the land, water, wines and people who work in it is what we believe in” Not only are they committed to sustainability, but also to the quality of the wines. We currently have two of their wines in stock, and both are varietals you would not normally expect from Argentina.
Preludio Syrah:
This is a gorgeous, seductive full bodied wine. The mouthfeel is full and juicy with expansive black and blue fruits, very good structure complexity and a touch of wild rusticity. This is an ideal wine for grilled Steaks or, even better, Lamb -$18.99
Preludio Tempranillo:
The Tempranillo is even bigger and more expressive than the Syrah. It has a core of deep black fruit reminiscent of wild blackberry, plum and cassis with a smoky note on the finish, making it ideal for any grilled meats. This wine, like the Syrah, is a very seductive powerful wine. Both of the wines under $20.00 at $18.99 are a real value in my book.
Ask your Central Market wine steward about these or other varieties of our South American Beauties... Cheers Seth
