To Herb is Human…

(Herb Fest runs April 3rd-5th but these breads can be enjoyed April 1st-7th, just for you!)

You have your classics…The French baguette. The San Franciscan Sourdough. The NYC bagel. The Pita. The English scone. Add an herb or two to the mix and you’ve got something more than just bread. You’ve got tastes never dreamed of to come out of flour, water and yeast. Hooray for bread!

Take our Rosemary Bread for instance. A tantalizing, salt crusted bread made with fresh Rosemary and a very soft crumb. An excellent complement to an Italian pasta dish or simply dipped in a virgin olive oil with cracked pepper and enjoyed with your favorite wine. At room temp or hot out of the oven, the aroma when sliced is…ahhhhh, bravissimo!

And something new from Central Market – the Herb Scone! Rich and buttery made with the savory flavors of Parsley, Chives and marjoram. This scone is made for breakfast!

The Parmesan Focaccia makes for a great appetizer when warmed and sliced in wedges. The garlic flavored focaccia dough is topped with Thyme, crushed red peppers, Basil and shredded parmesan for a fabulous snack or a late night meal when paired with a great dipping sauce and a bottle of red or white…it all depends upon your appetite (with apologies to Billy Joel).

Additionally, at Central Market on North Lamar in Austin, we will have three specialty focaccias: Walnut & Sage, Mushroom, Basil & Asiago cheese and Mediterranean Herbs & Roncal cheese.

So there you have it. We salute the herb for it’s fabulous contribution to humanity. Breads that taste great…for very little dough.
