Tulips Are Better Than One!

We have a fresh shipment of tulips arriving for this weekend, direct from our growers in California. Choose from shades of reds and pinks or purples and whites. At $9.99 per 10-stem bunch, that is less than $1 per stem. Two bunches for less than $20 - also makes a great impact in a vase! Our floral Partners will be able to help you pick out the perfect flowers to complement the tulips, like other bright spring flowers or stately blooming branches.
Here are some quick and easy care and handling tips for tulips:
- Fill your vase with cool water - not too hot, or not icy
- Add special BULB flower food (pick up a couple of our CM Blue Bulb Food Packets)
- Give the ends of the tulip stems a slight trim to promote water uptake
- Do not place near drafts, direct heat, or in direct sunlight.
- Tulips will grow towards the light, so it is always best to rotate your vase to promote even growth
By using the special Bulb flower food, you will extend the life of not only tulips, but also other bulb flowers, such as lilies, iris, or gladiolas. The flower food contains a hormone that essentially "tricks" the cut flower into thinking that it is still on the plant. The flowering part of the plant draws its energy from the flower bulb in order to grow and develop while it is on the plant. When the stem is cut, it the flower continues to pull energy from the rest of the stem, including the leaves, which causes the leaves to yellow quickly and the vase life to shorten. By adding the bulb food to the water, the hormone is drawn up through the stem to the flower, aiding growth and development by simulating still being on the original plant. Try it! It works!
