Memorial Day Weekend is now in the past and it is officially, unofficially, SUMMER! The obvious statement about SUMMER is that schools are out and kids are off! and its HOT until November in Texas. The not so obvious statement for SUMMER is what wines are best.

This week, we want to ensure you have the best wines for everyday SUMMER sipping.

PINE RIDGE CHENIN BLANC VIOGNIER $9.95

This is a terrific every day white wine. It's a bit unusual and not like your typical chardonnay. This unique blend of Chenin Blanc and Viognier is an enjoyable wine to have anytime you just want to sip a glass of white (or two or three). The wine gives you flavors of honeydew melon and is a bright wine with a slightly sweet fruity flavor and so easy to drink all by itself. There's nothing like a lush white wine with some finger foods to start!

Try this wine with soft cheeses, our FRESH GULF SHRIMP on sale this week or a grilled New Zealand King Salmon Fillet.  And at $10 bucks a bottle, it never hurts to just have some extra on hand!

CRIOS CABERNET SAUVIGNON AND CRIOS TORRONTES $11.95

Let's just get this out of the way. Not JUST one of the wines, but BOTH of the wines are HIGHLY RATED by the most famous wine critic in the world. These two wines have both received 90 points from Robert Parker and the Wine Advocate, too.

Crios wines are made by the famous winemaker Susana Balbo.

This is what the Wine Advocate has to say about Crios:

"The Crios de Susana Balbo label has rapidly become synonymous with great value. Susana Balbo is also widely credited with developing the modern style of Torrontes; hers remains the benchmark."
                   -Wine Advocate

The '07 Cabernet  is an intense, dark ruby color wine with enticing aromas of ripe, black plums and black currants. The wine teases you with hints of dark chocolate and some vanilla-scented oak. The ripe, vibrant tannins give the wine beautiful structure and an amazingly long finish. This is a big wine for just a little money.

The '08 Torrontes is bursting with bright flavors. The wine has enticing aromas that are strikingly similar to Viognier, with hints of peach pit, white pear, flowers and orange citrus fruit. Fruity, floral and yet still quite dry, this wine has to be tasted to be believed.

Bottom line is:  we have three wines this week that you need to try in store and taste for yourself! One is a unique blend for under $10 bucks and 2 from the same wine maker both loved by the most famous wine critic in the world for under $12 bucks!

Enjoy often, but enjoy responsibly!
